Lisps
Remediation for Functional Speech Disorders
At Pure Speech Pathology, we are experienced in treating articulation and phonological disorders with a unique specialty in remediating lisps. We begin treatment with an evaluation to identify the underlying cause of the distorted s, z, sh, ch, zh, and/or dj sounds. This also allows us to determine the type of lisp the child is presenting with to guide our evidence-based treatment approach. Our approach to treating lisps also includes home-practice programs to support ongoing progress and lasting success.

Tongue-Ties
Addressing Functional Speech and Feeding Skills
Tongue-ties can create challenges for a child's speech, eating, drinking, and palate development. A functional assessment allows us to closely evaluate how the tongue-tie is impacting speech and eating skills. Following the evaluation, a thorough report describing the impact of the tongue-tie will be provided to the family with a referral to a specialist when necessary. Therapy will then focus on recreating the neuromuscular patterns for optimum speech and feeding.

At Pure Speech Pathology, we have advanced training and experience in treating tongue-ties, lisps, and stuttering for children and teens. We understand the importance of working with a specialist to treat these disorders and are excited to offer our specialty services to families throughout the States of Washington, Florida, California, and Illinois.
